Last year Gillhambrook Labradors was awarded a higher five star rating following our inspection by the licensing officer from the borough council.
I was delighted with the fact that I had met 100% of the higher standards set out in the Animal Licensing legislation.
The reason why I mention this here is that not only is it a legal requirement for anyone who breeds dogs and sells them to be licensed, it demonstrates a commitment of the Breeder to their dogs, breeding practices; potential clients, animal welfare and compliance to the law.
It must be said that applying for a license to breed dogs is extremely stressful, multiple written policies, protocols and lengthy veterinary inspections are mandatory. The application process is exactly the same whether you are a ‘’Hobby Breeder’’ and non commercial like me, or a commercial kennels with staff and much more financial resources. Nevertheless it is a huge achievement for Gillhambrook Labradors and I am very proud of that.
